ABOUT
people+artist+place produce creative projects that inspire, engage and connect communities.
Our projects...
-
connect diverse audiences with ideas that reflect, celebrate and critique contemporary society;

-
focus on the local, exploring issues and ideas in unique and relevant ways;

-
support artists to work with and for local communities on compelling and empowering temporary works.
We create with people in mind, working together in the hope that these projects assist communities to navigate the challenging and complex issues of our time.

We wish to honour the Traditional Owners of the central Brisbane area, the Jagara nation, south of the Brisbane River and the Turrbal nation, north of the Brisbane River, and recognise them as custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their elders – past, present and emerging – and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the community.

Our stance on volunteer labour in the arts:

What are our thoughts on unpaid internships?

We don’t think they’re a great idea because, let’s be honest, we’ve all got bills to pay! Sometimes though, especially in the arts, free labour is what gets really great ideas off the ground. It’s a shame, but lucky for us, there are initiatives like NAVA's Fair Pay for Artists campaign advocating on our behalf for this to change.

We definitely support this change, and in time you’ll see our actions speak louder than our words. But for now, we just wanted you to know, that wherever possible, we’re paying everyone who’s helping us establish people+artist+place. And, in those dire moments when we really need an extra pair of hands and a few extra thinking caps but we don’t have the money to pay them (a common issue for arts organisations) we will endeavor to work out an arrangement these life-savers love and get value out of.
